Designer Urvashi Joneja spellbind the audience with her 'Guarded collection'
@ first day of LAKME FASHION WEEK, WINTER/FESTIVE, 2014

Designer Urvashi Joneja mesmerized the audience with her breath taking 'Guarded collection on 1st day of Lakme fashion week, Autumn/winter, 2014 . Her designs were inspired by the illusory bricks that we build around ourselves that keeps us “Guarded” from the unwanted happenings around us.

The Autumn/ Winter 2014 collection “Guarded” took inspiration from fortresses and armour, literally and symbolically. It explored the guard and the bricks that we put up around us every day, in our lives and encounters. The collection depicted the story of a girl who slowly builds a fortress around herself. The collection portrayed real-life situations & emotions like deception through print, toil through braiding, comfort through drapes and strength through structure.

Commenting on the same, Urvashi says “I love working on innovative concepts and this time my collection was entirely unique & different.
For my 'Guarded' collection I used various versions of repetitive geometric prints in monochrome and shades of red, burnt orange and purple against black, with gold as an accent. I am so overwhelmed with response I have been receiving after the show. I am definitely looking forward to coming seasons of Lakme."

The distorted prints, drapes and cording contrast what is real versus what meets the eye. The collection also explored various elements used in combat clothing and merged them seamlessly into feminine and experimental silhouettes. . The primary fabrics used are georgettes, crepes and raw silk, with faux leather accents. A balance of bonds, fear and freedom, "Guarded" is an eclectic twisted journey of one's soul.

With bricks being the highlight, Urvashi Joneja bought out ones “Guarded” walls through her collection, which the audience surely digged into!
